Tony Blackburn OBE started broadcasting on 25th July 1964 – 60 years ago TODAY! His first show was on the pirate station Radio Caroline. Tony then joined Radio London another pirate station before joining and launching BBC Radio 1 in September 1967 with the infamous opening.
Over the many decades Tony has remained on top form with lots of good humour and a real passion for music, especially soul music. Tony has broadcast on lots of radio stations including BBC Radio London, Capital Gold, Classic Gold Digital, KMFM ‘Kent’, Radio Radio, KCFM ‘East Yorkshire’, Smooth Radio, Magic AM Network, Thames Radio ‘London’, BBC Radio Berkshire and many others.
